Grace Fisk scored twice and new signing Vivien Endemann marked her debut with a goal and an assist as Liverpool Women opened their Women's Super League campaign with a commanding 4-0 victory over promoted Charlton Athletic. The comprehensive win at The Valley on Sunday immediately sent the Reds to the top of the league table on three points, a welcome start after finishing 11th last season.

Fisk, the team captain, opened the scoring from close range in the eighth minute. The centre-back then doubled the lead early in the second half, volleying home from outside the box after Endemann's corner was only partially cleared. The German international, making her first appearance on the right wing, got her own name on the scoresheet just past the hour mark, pouncing on a rebound after Sam Kerr's shot was blocked.

Kerr returns after long injury

The match also marked a significant personal milestone for Scottish forward Sam Kerr, who returned to action after nearly a year out with a long-term injury. Her introduction added further attacking impetus in the second half. Manager Gareth Taylor was able to make several changes, with Natalia Ramos replacing Fuka Nagano in the 71st minute. Ramos was lively, creating two good chances and winning a penalty in added time, which Cornelia Kapocs converted to complete the 4-0 scoreline.

Taylor told reporters after the match he was pleased with the performance. "It's a fantastic way to start the season," he said. "The players executed the game plan perfectly and showed great energy."

The result gives Liverpool Women a perfect start with a plus-four goal difference, placing them first in the standings. It also provided a positive contrast to last season's struggles, where they narrowly avoided relegation. Following that, a trip to face Manchester City later in the month will provide a sterner test of their early-season form.
