Liverpool Women have confirmed the departure of defender Hannah Silcock to Everton for an undisclosed fee. The 21-year-old leaves after 14 years with the Reds, having joined the academy at age eight. Silcock made 22 senior appearances, including being part of the 2021/22 FA Women's Championship-winning squad.
What happened in Silcock's Liverpool career?
Silcock debuted for Liverpool Women in the 2021/22 season, helping the team win the FA Women's Championship. She was loaned to Blackburn Rovers in 2023/24 and later to Birmingham City in January, where she made four appearances as they secured promotion to the WSL. Despite her contributions, she struggled to establish herself as a regular starter at Liverpool.
Why the move to Everton?
The transfer marks a fresh start for Silcock, who will now compete in the WSL with Everton. Scott Phelan's side finished eighth last season, three places and six points ahead of Liverpool. Silcock's first derby against her former club is set for 27 September at Anfield, a surreal moment for the lifelong Liverpool fan.
What's next for Liverpool Women?
With the new WSL season approaching, Liverpool Women are reshaping their squad under Gareth Taylor. After finishing 11th last season with 17 points (4W-5D-13L), scoring 21 goals and conceding 34, the Reds aim to improve. Their first four fixtures include matches against Charlton Athletic, Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester City, and Everton.
